Photographer Arne Svenson’s series of death portraits, large format black and white images of forensic facial reconstructions, capture the haunting mysteries of the unknown dead.
With a gaze fixed directly on the eyes, the viewer is forced to confront the imagined tragedy befallen upon the unidentified corpse. In return the lifeless eyes, brought sharply into focus by the artists use of depth of field, almost plead with the viewer to help unravel the mystery surrounding their untimely (and most likely violent) deaths.
