Ellen Rogers, Photographer: About My Mother’s Death

 

In the current zeitgeist of the “death positive” movement, it’s easy to think that armed with some prior knowledge and afforded some control over the act of dying, that somehow this will enable a so called “good death”. Whilst in a lot of cases this may be so, it’s vitally important to acknowledge that sometimes death, the process of dying and the aftermath, can be truly horrifying to bear witness to.
